This interior and lifestyle store offers a truly unique experience for those seeking something special for their homes.
We sat down with Amy, the passionate owner and creative mind behind Alabaster Studio, to learn more about her journey and vision for the store.
Navigating from Interior Design to Investment Banking and Back to Interior Design
Amy's passion for interior design ignited at an early age, propelling her to pursue formal studies in the field and eventually work at Room, an interior store (now closed).
However, the 2008 financial crisis threw her plans off course, and she found herself navigating the world of investment banking for the next decade.
Despite her accomplishments in the industry, Amy's yearning for true fulfillment persisted. It wasn't until she realized that she was merely living for the weekends and vacations that she embarked on a profound introspection, delving into her innate talents and rediscovering what truly brought her joy.
It was during that period of introspection that the idea of Alabaster Studio was born - a place where she could share her profound appreciation for unique and vintage pieces with others and create spaces that truly told a story.
The Birth of Alabaster Studio: A Manifestation of Amy's Passion and Vision
Leaving a stable career to start her own store was a daunting decision for Amy, and she recalled feeling complete panic when she called to quit. However, she knew she had to make a change and follow her gut feeling.
"I didn't want to spend more time of my life hating my job and complaining about it.”
Despite the initial fears and uncertainties, Amy took the leap, and she has never looked back. "That jump is so big and so scary, but I am forever grateful that I just did it."
Authenticity and Value-Driven Approach: Growing Alabaster Studio Organically
"When you carry an idea that you truly believe in and have confidence in its success, it fuels you with the energy to work harder and stay focused on your goals. This positive attitude and determination are likely to attract opportunities in your favor."
Since its inception, Alabaster Studio has grown organically, without any sponsored promotions or freebies. Amy's approach has been authentic and value-driven. "I have focused on the value customers will get from their purchase," Amy explained.
Each piece at Alabaster Studio is carefully selected for its uniqueness, handmade quality, and story, making it worth the investment. Some objects are even over 100 years old!
